Visit Barrowden and Wakerley

Barrowden is a village and civil parish in the county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. It is often considered to be one of the more picturesque villages in Rutland due to its beautiful setting amongst hills and rivers, and also because of the open village greens and the village pond.

Barrowden and Wakerley are located adjacent to the River Welland in Rutland just off the A47 between Uppingham and Peterborough. It is a medium sized village with a population of about 420. There is a church, a village hall, a doctor’s surgery, a shop, a mobile library, a recreational field with cricket club and a pub, The Exeter Arms. Barrowden can trace its history back to the eleventh century.
